Have we heard from Claremont lately? I've been avoiding Comix-Fan for a while now

What should have happened is that when Sage and Lionheart collided just as Albion cast his "spell," the subsequent panel was supposed to be a shot of Sage (in disguise) above which could be seen the astral image of Excalibur Sage screaming in psychic agony as her substance is visually disintegrated, which (hopefully) should have informed the reader that something dire had
just happened, namely that Sage's personality had been KO'd. Subsequently, when she woke up, it was wholly as her assumed identity Diana Fox.

Shame on me, apologies to all.

Couldn't Sage theoretically store a 'copy' of her personality somewhere within her vast mind?

Maybe she stored a copy someplace else...oh, like in Nocturne's head, when she allowed Nocturne to possess her?

It's the word "disintegrated" that concerns me. User Image

Everyone's allowed a touch of temporary amnesia every now and then. Even Sage.

And hers was induced by uber-powerful magic to boot! Please?

I am also concerned by the word "disintegrated".

I'm not, I think Claremont meant the background images. Sage's real personality was probably buried under the new one.

disintegrated bothers me, but 'visually disintegrated' not so much

I agree that her personality is buried and not destroyed, but i'm not very certain it will be restored before the crossover. Maybe even later.

"Cat" Pryde is 16, or thereabouts, from a world where Betsy Braddock became that dimension's version of Captain Britain. (Wonder why she wasn't present for the big final battle with the Fury and Jim Jaspers in Exiles / Excalibur?) The dimension is unknown and we haven't visited it; indeed, the basic problem for Cat is that she apparently can't seem to find it in the Crystal Palace database, much to her ongoing frustration.

Cat seems aware of the X-Men (of her world) as friends -- and yet, there's also a much darker implication of some kind regarding their relationship and history. Details as yet unrevealed.

She seems able to phase. In fact, she seems to have a dysfunction of that power similar to that held by Kitty, in that it seems permanently "on." Whether that's precisely the case and/or whether there are other surprises in
store regarding her have yet to be revealed -- although the fact that issues 5 & 6 are focused on her and Sage and Morph suggests that something might indeed be revealed. Or not. Writers can be so annoying sometimes.

We don't know whether or not she has an equivalent of Lockheed. Writer isn't telling anything about that, either, the wretch.

However, given the writer's blatant prejudices towards certain characters, it's likely only a matter of time before she becomes the God-Empress of the OmniVerse, or maybe even something worse! What a shame he seems so predictable!

Hope this helps,

Chris Claremont

For other correspondents -- as far as I'm concerned, Sage's alter-ego is Tessa. Whether or not that's her "real" name, or her "only" name is a whole other set of questions; however, it's the only name she acknowledges, even if she chooses not to use it herself these days very often (if at all.)

What the heck, perhaps her "real" name -- her birth name -- is Diana Fox? Just a thought.

Cordially,

Chris Claremont

If Sage's "real name" - birth name - isn't Tessa it may as well be Diana Fox as Edna Dorfmeyer, or anything else. If Sage's real name isn't Tessa it doesn't matter what it is.
