I was very surprised to see that. I think it's al old unused cover, like drawn before editorial yanked Beast to NXM and Betsy became permanently...uh... a longer temporarily dead. She's even got the crimson dawn mark on her face.
If it was done specifically as an alternative cover, both Bishop and Psylocke, who actually appear in X-Force would likely have more prominent placings.

I was also very surprised to see this cover! I'm sure it was entirely Sal's idea, clearly he has a warm spot for that book.

It's probably not an old unused cover however, notice that Storm has braids, that happened after Psylocke and Beast left.

Pity it's only a variant and not an XXM relaunch with Chris -- if anything will ever get me back into comics, surly that would it.

I don't think CC is likely to return on an ongoing basis. He's still under contract but we haven't seen anything from him in years.

For a while there, I thought a Gage and Sal revival would be cool. I really enjoy Gage's writing. But then he went and gave Finesse a case of the stupids and my interests in it cooled. Too much been there, done that, didn't like how it ended up with Sage becoming a building because she had no friends, except the imaginary ones.

Hey, it was "the smallest handful of friends"! wink But referring only to the ones on Earth (the Exiles were her friends, too.) She may not have many, but the ones that she does have are quality.

I'm glad that she didn't abandon her path for anyone else. ("Yes, I'll miss my friends. But to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way.")
At the time they were all doing their own thing, too: Storm got married, Bishop was hunting down babies or something, and I forget the rest.

If #18 and the "Psylocke" oneshot was Claremont's last time writing her then I'm glad it ended the way it did, with Sage getting back to her old self and evolving into a "goddess."

I was hoping she'd show up in his XMF but that never came to be. Likewise, I doubt he'll get back to it or get another ongoing. Current Marvel doesn't seem interested (they're fine with hiring new writers to copy his material.)

I don't think current Marvel is alone in that. They've been rehashing CC's material since 1992. If anything, current Marvel has moved forwards. Now they rehash CC's and Morrison's.
